Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on January 10, 2026, urged the Union Government to share surcharge collections with States to enhance their fiscal capacity. Bhatti made a strong pitch for increased fiscal space, arguing that sharing surcharge revenue would provide States with the resources required for infrastructure, health, education, and welfare projects. He also called for the early sanction of major infrastructure initiatives to accelerate regional development and boost economic growth.
