Telangana Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on January 10, 2026, urged the Union Government to share surcharge collections with States to enhance their fiscal capacity. Speaking in Hyderabad, he emphasized the need for greater financial devolution to enable States to implement developmental programs effectively and meet local needs.
Bhatti made a strong pitch for increased fiscal space, arguing that sharing surcharge revenue would provide States with the resources required for infrastructure, health, education, and welfare projects. He also called for the early sanction of major infrastructure initiatives to accelerate regional development and boost economic growth.
Highlighting the importance of cooperative federalism, Bhatti said that States should be empowered financially to complement Centre-led efforts. He stressed that equitable resource allocation would strengthen governance, ensure timely project execution, and improve public service delivery.
