Siricilla, Aug 28: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar was hailed as a “real hero” after his efforts led to the rescue of five villagers trapped in Narmala floods. Following his appeal to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Army deployed four helicopters to carry out the operation. Two of them successfully airlifted five stranded people to safety.
As soon as the helicopters reached the village, Bandi Sanjay also arrived at the site. The rescued victims thanked him personally for saving their lives. Locals and villagers cheered him as a “real hero” and praised his quick intervention. He also advised people to remain alert during heavy rains and assured continuous support from the Centre.
Later, the minister visited the home of Nagayya, a local resident who was swept away in the floods. He consoled the grieving family, assured them of support, and handed over ₹1 lakh in financial aid to his son Sai. Sanjay also appreciated NDRF personnel for their relentless efforts and honored Assistant Commandant Damodar Singh for leading the rescue.
In a rare moment, former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) met Bandi Sanjay at Narmala while visiting flood victims. Both leaders exchanged greetings, setting aside politics in the face of the disaster. Sanjay thanked Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Air Commander V.S. Shaini for swift action.
