Telangana CM Proposes Salary Contribution for Neglected Parents, Launches Welfare Programs for Seniors and Children
Telangana Chief Minister proposed that 15% of government employees’ salaries be deposited directly into the accounts of their neglected or elderly parents, aiming to provide financial support and ensure the welfare of senior citizens. The CM emphasised that the initiative would encourage family responsibility and strengthen social security for the elderly.
On the same day, the government launched day care centres for senior citizens across the state to provide care, engagement, and health support. Additionally, the Bala Bharosa programme was inaugurated to support children, offering counselling and protection services.
Speaking at the launch event, the CM also mentioned that the government was actively considering nominating transgender individuals as co-opted members in committees to voice issues faced by the community, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and social justice. Officials said these initiatives form part of a broader welfare strategy targeting vulnerable sections of society, promoting dignity, support, and protection for seniors, children, and marginalized groups in Telangana.
