T. Harish Rao Appears Before SIT in Telangana Phone-Tapping Probe
Telangana leader T. Harish Rao, a senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) figure and former minister, appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) as part of the ongoing phone‑tapping probe. The SIT had summoned him to appear on January 20 in connection with allegations that phones were illegally monitored during the previous BRS government’s tenure. Harish Rao has held key portfolios, including finance and irrigation, but is not currently a minister.
The investigation started after complaints of unauthorized interception of calls and surveillance, and the SIT is examining call records, administrative actions, and the role of former officials and intermediaries. Harish Rao provided information about his knowledge of administrative procedures and communication protocols, while cooperating with the probe. His appearance is notable because he is one of the most prominent political figures involved in the case so far. The SIT continues to question other key individuals and gather evidence to establish accountability and the full scope of the alleged phone‑tapping operations.
