In a shocking case from Bihar, a ward councillor declared dead has come forward to prove she is alive. The incident happened in Gaya district, where sitting ward councillor Sheila Devi was officially shown as deceased in government records.
The ward councillor declared dead discovered the mistake after her widow pension suddenly stopped. When she visited officials to ask about the issue, she learned that records showed her as dead. The error left her stunned and helpless.
To draw attention to the problem, Sheila Devi began walking through her area holding a poster that reads, “I am alive.” Residents were shocked to see an elected representative forced to prove her existence because of a paperwork mistake.
Sheila Devi said she regularly verifies birth and death records in her ward. Despite this, officials wrongly updated her details. She blamed negligence and demanded immediate correction of records along with strict action against those responsible.
Local people fear that similar mistakes may affect other poor and elderly residents. They urged authorities to check records carefully to avoid such serious errors in the future. The administration has assured action, but the councillor is still waiting for justice.
