Greenland Dominates Davos Talks as Russia Eyes NATO Rift

Greenland

Greenland dominates Davos talks as global leaders debate its strategic value at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. Russia has shown interest in the growing tension. Moscow views Ukraine as its top priority but sees benefits in Western divisions.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Donald Trump could “go down in history” if he succeeds in acquiring Greenland. Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev welcomed what he called the collapse of the transatlantic alliance. Former president Dmitry Medvedev mocked Europe online. He suggested Trump’s agenda would weaken Denmark and harm the European economy.

Russian analysts see opportunity in the dispute. Vasily Kashin said divisions inside NATO would benefit Russia. He added that such splits could support Moscow’s long-term goals. Pro-Kremlin voices also argued that Greenland tensions distract Europe from Ukraine.

European leaders rushed to Davos to calm the crisis. Trump increased pressure on allies through tariffs. He announced new duties on eight European countries. Rates will rise from 10 percent in February to 25 percent by June.

EU leaders criticised the move. Emmanuel Macron warned Europe could retaliate using strong trade measures. The dispute now threatens unity within NATO and the European Union.
