Nitish Kumar’s ₹10,000 Women Scheme Ahead of Bihar Elections

Nitish Kumar announcing ₹10,000 women scheme ahead of Bihar elections

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has announced the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana, a new scheme for women in Bihar. Under this plan, one woman from each family will get ₹10,000 directly in her bank account by September 2025.

The government has also approved financial help of up to ₹2 lakh for women to start employment. The first installment will be ₹10,000 for every eligible woman. This scheme is one of the most ambitious steps taken before the elections.

Nitish Kumar said that his government has worked for women’s empowerment since 2005. He noted that women are now playing a strong role in family income and the state’s progress. With this decision, he hopes to make women more self-reliant and confident.

The move has both social and political value. Women will gain direct financial power, and households will benefit from added income. The scheme also creates a path for women to set up small businesses and grow financially.

Supporters call it a long-term investment in women’s welfare. Critics see it as an election strategy. Either way, the scheme highlights the importance of women in Bihar’s future.
