IndiGo extends flight cancellations to several international destinations as the airline announced an extension of suspended services till February 11. IndiGo extends flight cancellations to Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, and Tashkent due to rising tensions around Iran that affect safe airspace operations.
The airline confirmed on Tuesday that it reviewed the evolving situation in the region and adjusted its schedule accordingly. Earlier, IndiGo had cancelled flights on these routes only till January 28. However, continued instability prompted a longer suspension.
IndiGo operates flights to these destinations by flying over Iranian airspace. Given the current geopolitical tensions between Iran and the United States, the airline decided to avoid the region to ensure passenger and crew safety. IndiGo shared the updated cancellation details through a post on X.
Flights from India to these cities usually take six to seven hours. IndiGo uses A320neo aircraft on these routes, which have limited range and fuel capacity. The aircraft cannot operate efficiently on longer alternative routes that bypass Iranian airspace.
The airline said it continues to closely monitor developments and will inform passengers about further updates. Affected travellers can check options for refunds or rescheduling through official IndiGo channels.
