PV Sindhu stunned World No. 2 Wang Zhi Yi of China to storm into the quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships in Paris. Sindhu dominated the match in straight games, 21-19, 21-15, showing her class and control from start to finish.
This major win marks Sindhu’s continued rise in the tournament. She kept her lead in crucial moments and showed why she’s one of India’s top badminton stars. In the next round, she’ll face Indonesia’s Putri Kusuma Wardani.
Meanwhile, Indian mixed doubles pair Tanisha Crasto and Dhruv Kapila pulled off a big upset by beating fifth-seeded Chinese pair Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet. They bounced back after losing the first game to win 19-21, 21-12, 21-15 and reach the quarters.
Sindhu’s win over the second seed highlights her comeback form. She built a strong lead early in both games and didn’t allow her opponent to catch up. Her victory is a big boost for India’s campaign.
Dhruv and Tanisha will now take on Malaysia’s Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei for a chance to reach the semifinals. India’s doubles team of Satwik-Chirag also plays today.
