‘Record the call, I’m killing her’: Brother recalls pregnant Delhi commando’s murder

Record the call, I’m killing her

“Record the call, I’m killing her,” were the horrifying words a Delhi Police commando’s brother says he heard moments before his sister was brutally attacked at her home in West Delhi. Kajal Chaudhary, 27, a Special Cell SWAT commando and four months pregnant, later died from severe injuries.

According to her family, the incident occurred on January 22 at the couple’s residence in Mohan Garden. Kajal’s husband, Ankur, allegedly assaulted her with a dumbbell after a heated argument. Her brother Nikhil, a Delhi Police constable, said Ankur first called him and asked him to “make his sister understand.”

Soon after, Nikhil spoke to Kajal directly. However, Ankur allegedly snatched the phone, asked him to record the call, and announced he was killing her. Nikhil said he then heard Kajal’s screams before the line disconnected.

Minutes later, Ankur allegedly called again and claimed Kajal had died. The family rushed to the hospital, where doctors referred her to a Ghaziabad facility. Despite treatment, she succumbed to her injuries on January 27.

Meanwhile, the family accused Ankur and his relatives of sustained dowry harassment and physical abuse, even during Kajal’s pregnancy. They claimed she handled household work despite her demanding police duties.

Police arrested Ankur and registered a murder case at Mohan Garden police station. Investigators said financial stress and domestic disputes also contributed to the crime.
