Vice President inaugurates Surajkund Crafts Festival as C.P. Radhakrishnan opened the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Festival in Haryana on Saturday. The Vice President inaugurates Surajkund Crafts Festival by calling it a true reflection of India’s philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which sees the world as one family.

Addressing the gathering, Radhakrishnan said the festival brings together skilled artisans, creative minds, and centuries-old traditions. Moreover, he highlighted that the event celebrates India’s artistic excellence, cultural continuity, and spirit of self-reliance.

For nearly four decades, the Surajkund International Crafts Festival has offered global recognition to artisans, weavers, sculptors, painters, and folk artists. As a result, it has helped preserve traditional art forms across generations.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Minister Krishan Pal Gurjar, and several state ministers attended the inauguration. Meanwhile, the Vice President visited the “Haryana Apna Ghar” pavilion and interacted with artisans from the theme state Meghalaya.

The Vice President also launched the “Mela Saathi” mobile app to improve the visitor experience. In addition, he praised schemes like the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Kaushal Samman Yojana for empowering artisans through skills, finance, and market access.

Finally, he noted that nearly 15 lakh visitors attended the festival last year. Rising sales, he said, show both its cultural and economic success.
