PM Modi Renames Adampur Airport After Guru Ravidas and Opens Halwara Airport Terminal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Punjab on February 1, 2026, to mark the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Guru Ravidas Ji. During the visit, he renamed Adampur Airport as Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport to honour the great saint and social reformer known for his teachings of equality, compassion, and dignity for all. The renaming is seen as a tribute to his life and message.

On the same day, PM Modi also inaugurated the new civil terminal at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana, which will improve air connectivity in the region. The terminal has a longer runway and modern facilities, allowing larger aircraft like A320s to serve passengers. It also includes green and energy-efficient features such as LED lighting and rainwater harvesting.

The Prime Minister’s visit included plans to visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar and pay respects, reflecting the importance of the occasion for many people in the state.
