The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana has issued a warning to its members who have filed nominations for the upcoming municipal elections on February 11, 2026. The party said that any candidate who contests against the official BJP nominee or files nominations without party approval may face disciplinary action. Party leaders stressed that discipline is very important and anyone working against the party’s interests will not be accepted back into the BJP.
The BJP is contesting in 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across Telangana, with candidates in all 2,996 ward seats. The party aims to win posts such as mayors, chairpersons and councillors, and has urged workers to support the official nominees to avoid splitting votes.
The warning reflects the BJP’s effort to maintain unity and strengthen its position in the local polls, as parties prepare for a multi-cornered fight in many urban areas.
