Andhra Pradesh is all set to unveil its Water Policy 2026-27 on February 5. The new policy aims to make the State more drought-resilient and ensure fair distribution of water for various needs, including domestic use, irrigation, industry, and aquaculture.
Officials said the policy is comprehensive, covering strategies for water conservation, rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation, and sustainable groundwater management. It also seeks to improve water storage and distribution systems to meet the needs of farmers, households, and businesses.
The government emphasized that the policy will prioritize equitable allocation, preventing disputes between regions and sectors. It will also support initiatives for aquaculture, which is an important source of income for many coastal communities in Andhra Pradesh.
The State hopes that the new policy will strengthen water security, boost agriculture, and promote sustainable economic growth while protecting natural resources. Implementation plans are expected to be announced along with the policy launch.
