Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that efficient water management is essential to make the State drought-free. He stressed that proper planning and responsible use of water resources can help farmers and ensure long-term water security.

The Chief Minister highlighted the important role of Water Users’ Associations (WUAs) in water governance. He said these associations are close to farmers and understand local irrigation needs better. To strengthen them, the government will allot irrigation works directly to Water Users’ Associations without charging GST. He also said the associations will be allowed to collect water tax and manage canals efficiently.

Naidu explained that involving farmers in irrigation management will reduce water wastage and improve canal maintenance. He added that this system would reduce the burden on the government and improve transparency.

The Chief Minister called upon farmers and officials to work together to protect water resources and ensure a drought-free future for the State.
