The Congress party criticized the government over the recent India-U.S. interim trade deal. They said that the earlier event, ‘Namaste Trump’, was more successful than the ‘Howdy Modi’ event in the U.S. Congress used this comparison to highlight what they called shortcomings in the current deal.
The party also made a humorous remark using a famous line from the 1964 Bollywood film Sangam: “Dost dost na raha”. They used this to suggest that relations between India and the U.S. in trade matters were not as strong as the government claims.
Congress said the government should focus on agreements that truly benefit India rather than just organizing big public events. The party added that while diplomatic visits and events grab headlines, it is the results of trade deals that matter to businesses and ordinary citizens.
This comment is part of the ongoing debate over India’s trade relations with the U.S. and the government’s approach to foreign policy.
