Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ayyanna Patrudu said that public issues should be raised inside the Assembly, not through protests or rallies on the streets. He made these remarks while speaking at a literary event in Visakhapatnam on February 6, 2026.
Patrudu also suggested a “no work, no wage” rule for Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), saying that salaries should be linked to work done in the Assembly. He criticized the current political culture, saying that many leaders focus more on publicity and protests rather than working for the people.
The Speaker encouraged politicians to participate actively in Assembly debates and discussions to solve problems efficiently. He said that constructive work in the legislature is more important than making statements outside or organizing demonstrations.
Patrudu’s remarks reflect concern over the present-day political environment and aim to promote accountability, responsibility, and better governance in the state.
