Sri Lanka has stepped in to help ensure that the India–Pakistan T20 World Cup match will be held in Colombo. This decision came after Pakistan agreed to the plan following talks between leaders of the two countries.

Pakistan’s approval came after Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake spoke to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a nearly 30-minute phone call on February 9. During the discussion, the Sri Lankan President assured Pakistan about security arrangements and smooth conduct of the match.

Sri Lanka offered to host the match at a neutral venue to avoid political and security concerns. Colombo was chosen as it has experience in hosting high-profile international matches.

Cricket fans from both India and Pakistan welcomed the decision, as matches between the two teams are highly popular. Officials said the move shows Sri Lanka’s role in promoting sportsmanship and regional cooperation. With this agreement, the much-awaited match is now set to take place as planned.
