The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has begun investigating the Tirumala laddu ghee adulteration case. The agency has registered a formal case following reports that some ghee used in the famous Tirumala temple laddus may have been adulterated.

During its initial probe, the ED found possible links to hawala transactions related to approvals for ghee procurement. Hawala is an informal way of transferring money, often used to hide illegal payments. The agency is now looking into financial records and transactions to trace if there were any illegal deals in the purchase process.

Temple authorities and suppliers are likely to be questioned as part of the investigation. The probe comes after public concern over the quality of the laddus, which are a special offering to devotees at the famous Tirumala temple. Officials have assured that the investigation will continue to ensure transparency and accountability in the procurement of ghee for temple offerings.

This case has drawn widespread attention across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
