The Telangana Municipal Elections 2026 are underway, and voter turnout till 11 a.m. was reported at 28.48%. The elections are being held in 2,569 wards across 116 municipalities and 412 wards in seven municipal corporations in the state.
Polling began in the morning, with voters turning out to choose their representatives for local governance. Officials said that arrangements for security, polling booths, and voting materials were in place to ensure smooth elections. Several political parties, including the TRS, Congress, and BJP, are actively contesting and campaigning for their candidates.
Authorities appealed to voters to cast their votes peacefully and on time. The elections are seen as important for the state’s local administration, as winners will manage municipal services, sanitation, water supply, and local development projects. Election officials said that updates on voter turnout and results will be shared throughout the day.
The counting of votes will take place after polling ends, and results are expected soon.
