The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accused the Andhra Pradesh government of taking more Krishna river waterthan its allowed share. BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao said that Andhra Pradesh has already used 80% of its water, even though its ad hoc entitlement is only 66%.

Harish Rao claimed that this overuse could affect water availability for Telangana, especially for irrigation and drinking purposes. He said the Andhra Pradesh government should follow agreements on water sharing and not take more than its legal share.

The BRS leader urged the Centre to monitor the situation and ensure that Telangana receives its rightful share of Krishna river water. He warned that unauthorized water use could lead to disputes between the states.

Officials in Telangana said they are closely watching water releases and river levels. The issue highlights ongoing tensions between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana over river water sharing, which has been a recurring concern in the region.
