The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been reorganised into three separate municipal corporations: Cyberabad, Malkajgiri, and a restructured GHMC. According to an official notification, each of the newly formed corporations will function independently.
Each municipal corporation will have perpetual succession and a common seal, giving them the authority to manage local administration, civic services, and development projects on their own. The move is expected to improve governance and make administration more efficient in different parts of Hyderabad.
Officials said that with this reorganisation, issues like sanitation, water supply, roads, and urban planning can be handled more effectively at a local level. Each corporation will have its own elected representatives and administrative machinery to manage day-to-day civic responsibilities.
The government believes that dividing the GHMC will lead to better service delivery, quicker decision-making, and more focused attention on the needs of residents in each area.
