The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued new guidelines on how the National Song “Vande Mataram” should be played with the National Anthem. According to the order, if both the National Song and National Anthem are played together, all six stanzas of “Vande Mataram” must be sung before the National Anthem begins.
The MHA said this rule is meant to maintain the proper protocol and respect for India’s national symbols. Officials clarified that the National Anthem should always follow the complete singing of the National Song when both are presented together.
This guideline applies to government events, schools, and public functions, ensuring uniformity in how the National Song and Anthem are performed. The Home Ministry emphasized that “Vande Mataram” is an important part of India’s heritage and should be sung in full whenever it is included in ceremonies.
The order aims to promote respect, patriotism, and proper observance of national traditions.
