U.S. President Donald Trump has said that a war between India and Pakistan could have escalated into a nuclear conflict. He claimed that during tensions last year, 10 planes were shot down in air strikes between the two countries.

Trump also said that he played a key role in stopping the conflict, claiming credit for preventing escalation more than 80 times since May 10, 2025. According to him, his diplomatic efforts and communication helped reduce tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors.

The President made these statements during interviews and public appearances in the United States, highlighting his role in international peace efforts. Experts say that while India and Pakistan have had frequent border tensions, escalation to nuclear war is always a serious concern for global security.

The remarks have drawn attention internationally, with analysts debating the accuracy of Trump’s claims and the actual role played by the U.S. in preventing a larger conflict between India and Pakistan.
