Construction of a new mosque, modelled on the Ayodhya Babri Masjid, has started in Murshidabad, West Bengal. The foundation stone for the mosque was laid by Bharatpur MLA Humyaun Kabir on December 6, 2025.
The mosque is being built to serve the local Muslim community and is expected to become a centre for prayers and religious gatherings. Officials said that the design of the mosque resembles the original Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, with similar architectural features.
Local leaders and community members participated in the foundation ceremony, emphasizing that the project is meant for religious purposes and community welfare. The construction work is expected to continue in phases, with plans to complete it in the coming months.
The project has drawn attention because of its connection to the Ayodhya mosque, and authorities are ensuring peaceful and safe construction practices throughout.
