The family of Jaahnavi Kandula, an Indian student who died in a road accident in the United States, will receive a ₹262 crore settlement. Jaahnavi was hit by a police vehicle driven by Officer Kevin Dave in Seattle.
According to reports, the officer was driving at 119 kmph in a 40-kmph zone while responding to a drug overdose call. He had his emergency lights on and was using his siren at intersections, but the speed was much higher than the limit. The accident led to Jaahnavi’s death, causing shock and sadness among her family and the Indian community.
After legal proceedings, authorities agreed to provide financial compensation to her family. The settlement aims to bring some relief to the grieving family. The case had drawn attention in both the United States and India, raising concerns about road safety and police accountability.
