Police Officer Fined Rs 5,000 After POCSO Court Order Over Investigation Delay

In Muzaffarpur, Police Officer Fined Rs 5,000 After POCSO Court Order became a major development in a minor rape attempt case. The court said Police Officer Fined Rs 5,000 After POCSO Court Order because he failed to complete the investigation on time and ignored earlier directions.

The Special POCSO Court pulled up the station house officer of Bochaha police station for negligence. The judge ordered authorities to deduct the fine directly from the officer’s salary. The court will deposit the amount in the District Legal Services Authority fund.

The case began in May 2023 when the minor girl’s father filed an FIR. He alleged that some men abducted his daughter and one of them tried to rape her. Despite serious charges, police did not complete the probe within the expected time.

The court also sought an explanation for delays in related action against the accused. Senior officers must now ensure speedy investigation in pending cases.
