In the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, Nitish JDU may renominate either Harivansh or Ramnath Thakur to Rajya Sabha from Bihar. Five seats from the state will fall vacant soon. The Janata Dal United (JDU) is likely to win two of them. Both Harivansh Narayan Singh and Ramnath Thakur will complete their current terms in April.
Party leaders have started internal discussions over the final names. Political observers say the leadership may choose only one senior leader this time. Nitish JDU may renominate either Harivansh or Ramnath Thakur to Rajya Sabha, but the party will weigh caste balance and political strategy before making a decision.
Sources suggest Ramnath Thakur may have an advantage due to social equations in Bihar politics. At the same time, JDU may also consider new faces for the second seat.
The final decision is expected soon.
