Israel and the United States launched a joint preemptive assault on Iran, deploying cruise missiles, stealth jets and armed drones. Israel called its campaign Operation Roaring Lion, while Washington named its effort Operation Epic Fury.
Forces struck military and nuclear-linked sites in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz. The offensive marked a sharp escalation in US involvement amid tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme.
The United States fired Tomahawk cruise missiles from naval platforms. Israel deployed F-35I “Adir” stealth fighters and F-15I “Ra’am” strike aircraft for deep penetration missions. Both militaries used precision systems such as SPICE-guided bombs, JDAM kits and GBU-28 bunker busters. Israeli forces also launched stand-off missiles like Delilah and Rampage, along with long-range Heron and Eitan drones.
Iran retaliated with ballistic missiles and drones targeting Israel. It later struck US facilities in Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar. Tehran’s arsenal reportedly included Shahab-3, Emad and Ghadr medium-range missiles.
US President Donald Trump had ordered a major regional deployment before the strikes. Lawmakers in Washington are now pressing for a formal address explaining the scope and necessity of the conflict.
