A ransom demand from AIMIM MLA Murshid Alam has created concern in Bihar’s Araria district. The Jokihat legislator said he received threatening calls demanding money. The ransom demand from AIMIM MLA Murshid Alam reportedly came from a person who claimed he was calling from Canada.
Murshid Alam said the caller introduced himself as Zeeshan Akhtar and demanded ₹5 lakh. The caller warned him of serious consequences if he refused to pay the money. The MLA said the calls came late at night and later continued through WhatsApp calls.
The legislator informed the police and shared call records as evidence. Police in Palasi registered a case and started an investigation into the threat. Officials said they are checking several angles and trying to trace the caller.
This incident comes shortly after another extortion case involving a Bihar MLA surfaced. The latest case has raised concerns about the safety of public representatives in the state.
