Three deaths were reported from the Mashrak area, while two people died in Panapur. Family members said the victims had consumed liquor shortly before their health suddenly worsened. Some victims complained of severe uneasiness and loss of vision before they died.

Local residents said several others in nearby villages also fell sick after drinking the suspected liquor. Many patients are receiving treatment privately in different places.

Police and district officials reached the affected villages and started an investigation. Doctors sent the bodies for post-mortem to confirm the exact cause of death. Officials said the truth will become clear only after medical reports arrive.

The district administration has placed Chapra Sadar Hospital on alert. Authorities have also launched raids to track illegal liquor networks in the region.
