A shocking Chhath Puja murder in Gaya has left villagers in fear after a man was killed during a cleanliness drive ahead of the festival. The incident took place in Gauharpur village under Konch police station limits.

The victim, 42-year-old Dharmendra Giri, was cleaning a drain with other villagers to make the path safe for devotees. During this work, a dispute broke out with a local family. The argument quickly turned violent.

The accused attacked him with sticks, bricks, and stones. He collapsed on the spot after suffering serious injuries. Villagers rushed him to a nearby health centre, where doctors declared him dead.

Police reached the hospital after getting information and sent the body for post-mortem. The accused have fled the village, and a search operation is underway.
