Under the new system, power will be cheaper from 9 am to 5 pm. Consumers will get about 20% discount during this time. The government wants people to use more electricity in the daytime.
However, electricity will cost more from 5 pm to 11 pm. These hours see the highest demand for power. Consumers may pay about 10% more than the normal tariff during this period.
The normal tariff will apply from 11 pm to 9 am. The new rule mainly applies to homes with smart prepaid meters.
