Nalanda Sheetala Mandir Stampede investigation after deadly crowd crush in Bihar temple

The Nalanda Sheetala Mandir Stampede has led to strong police action in Bihar. Authorities registered a case against 20 people after the deadly incident at the Sheetala Mata temple in Maghra village of Nalanda district. The tragedy happened during a large religious gathering and left eight women dead and several others injured.

Police said the Nalanda Sheetala Mandir Stampede may have happened due to poor crowd management and a sudden surge of devotees entering the temple. Investigators examined CCTV footage and collected eyewitness accounts before filing the case.

Five members of the temple’s Panda Committee were arrested in connection with the incident. Authorities are searching for the remaining accused named in the FIR. Officials suspect the temple management failed to inform police about the expected large crowd.

The incident has raised serious concerns about safety arrangements at the temple. Police have increased security in the area and started a detailed investigation to prevent such tragedies in the future.
