A Poisonous Liquor Tragedy in Motihari has raised fresh concerns in Bihar after a man died and two others fell seriously ill in East Champaran district. The incident reportedly happened in the Raghunathpur area after the victims consumed suspected spurious liquor.
According to officials, the deceased has been identified as Chandu. Two others, Loha Thakur and Jitendra Sah, were admitted to a government hospital where doctors say their condition is stable. Authorities suspect that the illness may be linked to toxic alcohol, but confirmation will come only after the post-mortem report.
Police and district officials quickly launched an investigation following the Poisonous Liquor Tragedy in Motihari. Raids are being carried out in several nearby villages to trace the illegal liquor supplier responsible for the suspected hooch.
The district administration has ordered a high-level probe. Officials said the statements of the hospitalised men will be recorded once their health improves. Bihar has enforced a complete liquor ban since 2016, yet illegal alcohol trade continues to cause such incidents.
