Poisonous spirit seized in Motihari has exposed a major illegal liquor network in Bihar. The Special Task Force (STF) recovered 700 liters of toxic spirit during a raid in the Piprakothi area of East Champaran district. Police said the seized chemical contained methanol, a highly dangerous substance.
Officials revealed that criminals planned to use this spirit to produce more than 3,000 liters of illegal liquor. If the supply had reached the market, it could have caused large-scale deaths. The police acted in time and stopped the distribution of the poisonous spirit seized in Motihari.
During the investigation, police arrested several suspects involved in the liquor smuggling network. Authorities said the spirit was stored in multiple containers and hidden near a field drain. The gang reportedly planned to supply the material to nearby villages for illegal liquor production.
Police have now intensified raids across surrounding areas. Senior officials also praised the STF team for preventing a possible tragedy.
