Election officials will store the chips in secure strong rooms after the polls. Authorities can check the stored data later if any dispute or verification is required.
District officials have started preparations for storage and handling. Hyderabad-based Electronics Corporation of India Limited will supply the machines. Delivery may begin after May.
The machines will record votes for six Panchayat posts. These include Mukhiya, Ward Member, Panch, Sarpanch, Panchayat Samiti Member, and Zila Parishad Member.
