The Bihar government has taken action after complaints about the paddy procurement process. Lakhisarai DM Mithilesh Mishra removed over paddy procurement irregularities after officials found issues in the distribution of procurement targets.
Officials said Lakhisarai DM Mithilesh Mishra removed over paddy procurement irregularities following a preliminary review of the 2025–26 procurement season. The review found problems in the allocation of additional paddy procurement targets in the district.
The district had an original procurement target of 47,235 metric tonnes of paddy. Later, authorities approved an additional target. Complaints claimed that officials did not follow proper guidelines while distributing these extra targets among cooperative societies.
The state government transferred Mithilesh Mishra and directed him to report to the General Administration Department in Patna. Authorities have also started a departmental inquiry into the matter.
For now, the Additional District Magistrate is handling the responsibilities of the District Magistrate in Lakhisarai.
