Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary criticized the Indian National Congress over the women’s reservation issue. He said the opposition failed to support a major step for women in politics. During a press conference, he questioned the party’s stand on women’s participation in Parliament.
Choudhary said Congress supports family members in politics but ignores opportunities for other women. He referred to Priyanka Gandhi while making his remarks. He said Congress accepts Priyanka Gandhi as an MP but hesitates to support more women entering Parliament. The comment triggered political debate across the country.
He added that the proposed bill could have increased women’s representation. According to him, the opposition stopped an important reform. He also claimed that women in states like Bihar would have benefited from the move.
Choudhary said the Bharatiya Janata Party will raise this issue before the public. He accused the opposition of misleading women voters.
