A new Courier Delivery Scam in Araria has alarmed residents as cyber criminals target people by pretending to be courier delivery agents. The scam starts with a call claiming that an important parcel or government document has arrived but cannot be delivered because of an incomplete address.
In this Courier Delivery Scam in Araria, the caller asks the victim to dial another number to confirm the address. When the victim makes the call, call forwarding secretly gets activated on the phone. This gives scammers access to the victim’s calls and messages, including verification codes.
After gaining access, criminals hack the victim’s WhatsApp account. They then send messages to friends and relatives asking for urgent financial help while pretending to be the victim. Several residents in the district have reported similar incidents.
Cyber police have warned people not to call unknown numbers shared by delivery agents. Authorities also advised enabling WhatsApp two-step verification and avoiding sharing OTPs or personal details with unknown callers.
