Police carried out a major operation after codeine cough syrup seized in Patna during a late-night raid in several parts of the city. Officers recovered cough syrup worth around ₹1.8 crore that smugglers allegedly planned to distribute illegally across the state.
Acting on a tip-off, police teams from Chitragupt Nagar and Bahadurpur stopped an auto carrying cartons of cough syrup. Officers arrested the auto driver and seized five cartons during the first operation.
During questioning, the accused revealed more locations linked to the supply network. Police then conducted additional raids in Khemnichak and Didarganj and recovered several more cartons of the banned medicine. In total, officers seized more than 40,000 bottles connected to the smuggling racket.
The codeine cough syrup seized in Patna revealed a larger illegal supply chain. Police arrested two suspects, while a few others managed to escape. Authorities have launched a search to catch the remaining accused and expose the entire network.
