A police encounter in Siwan took place early Thursday morning when officers confronted gangster Chhotu Kumar Yadav, the main accused in the murder of Harsh Kumar Singh, nephew of former BJP MLC Manoj Singh. During the police encounter in Siwan, the accused was shot in the leg and later taken into police custody.
The incident followed a shocking shooting on Wednesday evening near the Andar Dhala overbridge in Siwan. Reports say the violence started after a minor road rage dispute when two vehicles collided. The argument quickly escalated, and the attackers allegedly opened fire on Harsh Singh and his father, Chandan Singh. Harsh died from multiple gunshot wounds, while his father suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Police quickly formed a special investigation team and tracked the suspect using CCTV footage and technical evidence. When officers attempted to arrest him and recover the weapon, the accused allegedly fired at the police team. Officers returned fire, injuring him and capturing him at the scene.
Authorities say the investigation is still ongoing, and police teams are searching for other suspects linked to the case.
