Government Formation in Tamil Nadu: Vijay Seeks Governor Appointment

Vijay seeks appointment with Governor to form Tamil Nadu government

Actor-turned-politician Vijay (actor-politician) has begun efforts to form the new government in Tamil Nadu after his party achieved a major breakthrough in the Assembly elections. His party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, emerged as the single-largest party in the state. As part of the process, Vijay seeks appointment with Governor to stake a claim to form the government.

The party won 108 seats in the 234-member Assembly, falling short of the majority mark of 118. Despite this, the leadership believes it can gather support from other parties or independent MLAs. Because of this situation, Vijay seeks appointment with Governor to present his claim and request an opportunity to prove majority on the Assembly floor.

Reports say the request was sent to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. Officials may review the constitutional options before inviting the party to form the government.

Political observers say the Governor could ask the party to prove its strength through a floor test. Meanwhile, discussions with other parties continue as TVK works to secure enough support to form the next government in Tamil Nadu.
