SBI Card late payment penalty charges revised from May 2026, bringing important changes for credit card users across India. The company updated its penalty structure for customers who miss the minimum amount due on their credit card bills. The revised rules aim to tighten payment discipline among cardholders.
Under the SBI Card late payment penalty charges revised rule, a new fee slab has been introduced for smaller outstanding amounts. If the unpaid balance is between ₹100 and ₹500, customers will now pay a ₹100 late fee. Earlier, there was no penalty for this range.
The fee for dues between ₹500 and ₹1,000 has also increased. Customers will now pay ₹500 as a late payment charge, compared to ₹400 earlier.
Penalty charges for higher outstanding balances remain unchanged. Late payment fees range from ₹750 for dues above ₹1,000 to ₹10,000 and can go up to ₹1,300 for balances above ₹50,000.
Financial experts advise credit card users to clear at least the minimum amount before the due date to avoid penalties and protect their credit score.
