Bandi Bhagirath approaches Telangana High Court seeking interim bail in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Bandi Bhagirath approaches Telangana High Court after police registered a case based on a complaint by a minor girl.
Bhagirath is the son of Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs. Cyberabad Police registered the case at a police station following allegations of harassment and sexual assault by a 17-year-old girl. Since the Telangana High Court is currently on summer vacation, the petition was filed before the vacation bench.
The court is likely to hear the bail plea on May 14. In his petition, Bhagirath denied the allegations and claimed that the case was part of a “honey-trap” and an attempt to extort money.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and both the complaint and the counter-complaint will be examined.
