Political parties in Telangana have gone on alert over the SIR Voter List Revision process. Leaders fear that changes in the voter list could influence future elections. Because of this concern, parties have started appointing Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to monitor the process closely.
The SIR Voter List Revision allows parties to appoint BLAs who work with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These agents help verify voter details such as new registrations, deleted names, migration, or deaths. By doing this, parties aim to prevent mistakes in the electoral roll and ensure accurate voter records.
Major parties such as Congress and BRS have already submitted many BLA names to election officials. However, several constituencies still have pending appointments.
Urban areas, especially Greater Hyderabad, face a challenge in finding suitable agents. Residents in gated communities often hesitate to take up the role or share voter details.
Political leaders say careful monitoring at the booth level will be crucial as the voter list revision continues across the state.
