Taiwan overtakes India as world’s fifth largest stock market in a major shift in global financial rankings. The rise came after Taiwan’s technology stocks surged due to the growing demand for artificial intelligence chips.
Taiwan overtakes India as world’s fifth largest stock market mainly because of the strong performance of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). The company benefited from the global AI boom and rising chip demand. Reports say Taiwan’s market value reached nearly $4.95 trillion, slightly ahead of India’s $4.92 trillion.
India’s stock market faced pressure from foreign investor outflows, weak earnings growth, and global economic concerns. Analysts also noted that Taiwan’s market gained strength from heavy investments in semiconductor and AI sectors.
However, market experts believe India still has a more diversified economy with strong long-term growth potential.
