MLA Raman Arora Arrested Again in Fresh Extortion Case

MLA Raman Arora arrested again in fresh extortion case

A day after MLA Raman Arora secured bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court in a corruption case, he now faces a new setback. A fresh case of extortion has been registered against him at Rama Mandi police station. The case was filed on August 30 by a private institution.

Police officials confirmed that the procedure of his arrest will be completed after his release from Nabha jail on Thursday. Once released, he will be presented in a local court the same day. The fresh FIR has brought Arora back into legal trouble just as he was preparing to walk free.

Arora was earlier arrested on May 23 in a graft case by the Vigilance Bureau. Alongside him, Assistant Town Planner Sukhdev Singh and Inspector Harpreet Kaur from the Municipal Corporation were also arrested. His son was also booked in the same case but managed to secure pre-arrest bail from the court.

The repeated legal actions against MLA Raman Arora highlight the growing scrutiny on public representatives accused of corruption and extortion in Punjab. His immediate future now depends on the court’s decision in the newly filed case.
