Cyber police have warned people about the growing astrology scam on social media. Fraudsters are using Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp to target innocent users with fake astrology services and online rituals. The astrology scam on social media has become a major cyber threat in recent months.
Cyber criminals post attractive ads promising solutions for family issues, financial troubles, love problems, and business losses. Once victims contact them, the scammers gain their trust and collect personal details. They first ask for small payments for online poojas or special rituals.
Later, the fraudsters demand huge amounts by claiming the victim has serious doshas or spiritual problems. In many cases, they threaten people with blackmail if they refuse to pay more money. Some scammers even misuse personal photos and family information shared online.
Cyberabad Cyber Crime Police advised people not to trust unknown astrology ads on social media. Officials also asked victims to report fraud immediately through the cybercrime helpline 1930 or the official cybercrime portal.
