Former cricketer and Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh has come forward with relief for flood-hit Punjab. He sanctioned boats and ambulances and raised funds to support affected families.
Using his MPLAD fund, Harbhajan provided eight steamer boats. In addition, he personally donated three more boats, making it a total of 11. Each boat cost between ₹4.5 lakh and ₹5.5 lakh. He also purchased three ambulances to ensure patients in critical condition can be taken safely to hospitals.
Punjab has been struggling with floods caused by heavy monsoon rains and breaches in river embankments. Many areas are still waterlogged, with families displaced and crops destroyed. Relief teams and volunteers continue rescue efforts.
Harbhajan also reached out to friends and sports organizations for financial help. A sports body donated ₹30 lakh, while two of his friends contributed ₹12 lakh and ₹6 lakh. So far, nearly ₹50 lakh has been raised for relief work. Food and medicines are being supplied to families in need.
Representing the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha, Harbhajan Singh has assured that more aid will be extended as the situation demands.
